We'll be honest: figuring out the right order for your skincare routine can be quite confusing. If you asked different people what they put on their face, you'd get a dozen different answers. Do I really need 10 products? What comes first - serum or toner? Or the facial oil?
But don't panic - this Mother's Day we're spending plenty of time perfecting our skincare routine. In the following steps, we've broken down the right order to apply skincare and the best products to do so. Let's go:
Before applying any products, it is important to remove any make-up residue and wash your face properly. The essential ingredients of your skincare products can only be properly absorbed into the skin if it is clean and, above all, completely free of oil or other residues. Opt for a foaming or creamy cleanser that removes all make-up without damaging the skin.

If your skin is looking a little dull again and cleansing alone is not producing the desired results, exfoliation is a wonderful way to improve your skincare routine. Exfoliants help to remove dead skin cells and debris that build up on the skin and clog pores. If you choose to exfoliate, it is done in gentle, circular motions.
applied. Our Peel Fresh Mask is left on for 3-5 minutes and then rinsed off with lukewarm water and a muslin cloth. Your skin will regain a healthy and natural glow in no time at all!
The third step is to use the mask! Always apply it to clean skin to avoid clogging your pores. It is best to start applying the mask at the top of your neck and work your way evenly towards your forehead. Make sure you avoid the sensitive lip and eye area to prevent irritation. Depending on the instructions, you should leave the mask on for a sufficient amount of time; our GINZAI serum face mask, for example, only needs 15-20 minutes.
Did you know that the seemingly harmless 20 minutes have been scientifically proven to release positive hormones? We like to use this time for a short mindfulness exercise, for example a relaxing meditation or journaling, a method of writing targeted diary entries.
Then massage the excess serum from the mask into the skin or rinse it off with lukewarm water before continuing with the rest of your skincare routine.

These used to be alcohol-based toners that irritated or burned the face. But today's toners are either filled with gentle, moisturizing ingredients to pamper dry skin or chemical exfoliants to treat acne. The face is prepared so that the ingredients can later be better absorbed by the skin. The GINZAI Wake-Up Toner is best used daily. It is placed on a cotton pad and gently applied to the face, neck and décolleté. The toner should not be washed off afterwards.

You probably have a few in your cupboard and don't quite know what to do with them. Serums contain extremely concentrated nutrients, moisturizers and antioxidants that really improve the health of your skin as soon as you apply them. Gently apply the serum to your face and neck with your fingertips, pat it in lightly and spread the rest in sweeping motions. Avoid rubbing the skin too hard, let the product absorb on its own. Although it is optional to include serums in your skincare routine, they are often a good step to strengthen the skin barrier with the skin's own moisturizers and effectively improve the skin's appearance. We therefore advise you not to do without them.
In the morning:
A vitamin C serum protects the skin from inflammation and damage caused by free radicals during the day and brightens the skin at the same time. For sensitive skin, it should be used every other morning instead of every day.
For the night:
A serum with hyaluronic acid is ideal for your daily night routine. The hyaluronic acid provides your skin with plenty of moisture and plumps it up from the inside out, smoothing out even the finest wrinkles while you sleep.

Eye creams are usually lighter and thinner than facial moisturizers, so they should be applied before the cream and facial oil. The rule of thumb when applying skincare is to apply the lightest first and the heaviest last, as thinner products cannot penetrate thicker products. A little tip from us: To reduce the swelling of eye bags in the morning, you can keep your eye cream in the fridge. The cold constricts the blood vessels and thus reduces the swelling under the eye.
A moisturizer should be used twice a day without exception. It doesn't matter if the skin is naturally very oily or prone to blemishes, as the cream will keep the face looking fresh and healthy. In addition, a moisturizer not only hydrates the skin, but also helps to lock in any underlying products so that the ingredients work even more effectively.
In the morning:
A light and gentle moisturizer that moisturizes the skin without feeling heavy or greasy is ideal. No matter what you choose, the cream should be left on for at least five minutes before you start your make-up routine.
For the night:
The skin goes into repair mode at night, working to repair damage and promote regeneration. That's why your nighttime moisturizer should be filled with nutrients that the body naturally produces and can use more of, such as hyaluronic acid, lipids and proteins.
Another piece of advice? Listen to your skin. Remember that you are unique and that no one else has your skin. No matter what the experts say, it's important to find what works for you.
