The GINZAI Story
Great things begin either with careful planning or by chance. For GINZAI, the latter was the case. The two GINZAI founders Hardy and Wolfgang were once again in South Korea in December 2016 to discuss an innovative project in the field of electronics/mechanics with the partners of the Correspondence University. When in South Korea, the national treasure of Korea - Korean ginseng - accompanies you at every turn.
Be it through special ginseng stores, on advertisements, markets, own museums, etc. Until now, this was noticed, but never questioned by the two founders. It was only a plant, what should be so interesting about it?
When the two sat together with two professors of the university at dinner after work on the evening of December 2, 2016, they casually asked what it was about ginseng that it was held in such high esteem in Korea. The professors frowned at their lack of knowledge and then gave a joint lecture on ginseng that lasted almost two hours.
They told a lot about the 5,000 year old history of this unique plant, its special effects that made it the most important medicinal plant in the world and its value that was already weighed with gold in the past.

To deepen what we heard, Professor Chen recommended a visit from the ginseng guru, Mr. Anh-Doc Yung, who knows more about this subject than anyone else. He knows him personally and will make an appointment. The weekend was approaching and on Sunday morning the founders visited the guru, who is about sixty years old and lives in a lonely house in the forest, three and a half hours by car from the capital Seoul. What a sight, a house full of ginseng roots displayed in glass cylinders filled with alcohol. This is his life's work said the guru. They are the most valuable forest ginseng roots he has collected in the last 30 years. When asked what value they represent, he smiled - it should be several million euros...
The guru went with the two founders into "his" ginseng forest. A healthy, green mixed forest that stretched over endless hills and spread an ambience like in the movie Lord of the Rings. The hike lasted over eight hours full of explanations, wisdom and experiences. In the process, some roots of Korean forest ginseng were dug up, examined and analyzed themselves. The founders were enthusiastic about Korean forest ginseng and its ingredients, applications and effects. An enthusiasm that continues to this day. On the way back to Seoul the idea was born to develop a caring cosmetic on the basis of Korean forest ginseng which enables the achievement of a new dimension of effect in the care of skin and hair.
